Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Will insurance cover my visit? Brenda is currently in network with Blue Shield, Health Net and Medicare. Medicare covers diabetes and chronic kidney disease only. Insurance coverage depends on your plan however, most insurance other than Medicare covers preventive nutrition visits. Please call me or your insurance company to discuss further. If you are out of network, Brenda can provide a superbill or submit a claim for you as a courtesy. Payment is required at time of visit if you have another insurance plan other than Blue Shield, Health Net or do not have a qualifying diagnosis under Medicare.

  2. How long will appointments last? Initial consultations are up to 75 minutes with follow-up visits lasting 30 minutes to 45 minutes depending on needs.

  3. What will be discussed? During an initial consult Brenda will review medical history, labs (if applicable), assess current eating habits/food choices/preferences, provide education, suggest resources, and set goals together with the client. A sample menu and written materials will be given. During follow-up visits Brenda will review blood sugars (if applicable), food logs, and progress as a whole towards better health.
